Mentoring kidney patients

  • Assistance in registering with the organization and evaluating suitability to receive a kidney donation.
  • Mentoring and guidance regarding the possibility of kidney donation within the family.
  • Every patient facing a transplant receives a match with a past transplant recipient, who guides them through the process, mentors them based on their own experience, and prepares them for the upcoming kidney transplant.

The Ministry of Health has established a clear position – which we at Matnat Chaim share:
“We start with the family.”
Before we begin to search for an altruistic donor, the possibility of a donation from the patient’s close family members must be explored to the fullest.

Beyond the high medical compatibility, especially among siblings, there is also a moral and ethical consideration here: the very willingness of a family member to consider the possibility of donation – is a profound expression of responsibility, love, and human connection. You can read more about the advantages of donation within the family here

The position of patients on the waiting list for donation is primarily determined by blood type, and additional criteria such as the length of time on dialysis, seniority on the waiting list, medical urgency, and other considerations. Matnat Chaim is under supervision of an external ethics committee that determines the rules of precedence and acts as a special review committee as needed.

We make every effort to make the process accessible and to assist every patient in finding the most suitable donor.
